Our Committee

Our Society relies on the generosity of our volunteers to keep it running smoothly.  If you feel that you can help us with any aspect of operations, please contact us

John Slatford

John Slatford

President of the Society

John was one of our founder members in 1975 and remained actively involved until very recently. He was responsible for much of our research into local buildings and families and served as our representative on the village hall committee.

Cameron Brown

Cameron Brown

Chairman

Cameron has had two careers, as a merchant banker then a non-fiction book publisher. He has been a member of S&RHS since shortly after moving to the area in 2006 and chairman since 2015. He edits our journals, has a particular interest in old buildings and leads our guided walks around Ripley village.

Clare McCann

Clare McCann

Deputy Chair & Museum Curator

Clare has had a lifelong interest in history and studied history and politics at the University of York. Never quite finding the right career, she realises that museum curating was what she should have done. For a number of years she has been the principal curator of the Society's little museum, achieving accreditation status in 2018.

Christina Sheard
