The History of Seymours
Then and now - The Living history of our village

The property that is Seymours, the estate agents, has had various uses but most of the memories recall it as Easton’s then Rust’s, both butchers. At the back of Easton's was the slaughter house. Animals were driven to his slaughter house from Guildford Market and one day a pig escaped and ran off down the street.
Mr Rust took over when Mr Easton was killed in an accident. He was known as Freddy Rust and was new to the butcher’s trade. The Milton brothers, who worked for Mr Rust said he when he closed the business he just upped and left. They would have liked to buy the business but had no chance. Instead they ran Grimditch & Webb as Milton Brothers, on the corner of Rose Lane and the High Street (currently the cleaners), from the mid 1960s to 1979.
