About the event

The Send and Ripley History Society presents a double bill this month.

Andy Jones will be giving a fascinating talk on the world of metal detecting, exploring how this remarkable technology was first conceived, how it has evolved over time, and the many ways it is used today. From its early beginnings to its modern role in uncovering hidden pieces of the past. Andy will highlight how metal detecting has become an important tool in historical discovery, helping to reveal stories and artefacts that might otherwise have remained buried forever.

“Memories of Send – Personal Recollections”

Narrated by a lady born in 1903, this film offers a vivid and personal glimpse into village life in Send around a century ago. Her reminiscences are brought to life through a rich collection of photographs from the Send & Ripley History Society archives, alongside images from other sources. Together, they paint a fascinating portrait of the people, places, and everyday experiences of a bygone era.
