Annual programme of events - 2010

A continuous programme of evening meetings are held monthly during the winter, addressed by experts in local history, archaeology, etc. In addition, there are outings in the summer, arranged to historic places or buildings, of interest both locally and further afield.

Wed. 20th January – “The History of Money” by Michael Martin

Wed. 17th February – AGM, Cheese and Wine, and short talks by members on "Finds and Interests ".

Wed. 17th March – “Guildford, the Golden Ford” by Eric Morgan.

Fri. 23rd April – “Grandad’s Guildford”, a Circle 8 Film presented by Terence Patrick.  Choc ices will be served.  NB. To be held in the main hall.

Tues. 11th May – Outing to Butser Ancient Farm, Chalton, for a conducted tour. Meet Send  Manor at 12.50pm for 1.45 arrival at Butser.

Tues. 8th June - Evening outing to the Abbot Hospital, Guildford, for a conducted tour. Meet 6.30 at Send Manor or 7.00 at the Hospital.

Thurs. 8th July – All day outing to Midhurst for conducted tours of the old town and the ruins of Cowdray House. Meet Send Manor at 8.50 am.

Wed. 15th Sept – “Romans in the South-east” by Judy English.

Wed. 20th October – “The Surrey Swing Riots” by Dr Judith Hill

Wed. 17th November  - “Surrey Women on the Home Front in World War II” by Carol Brown.

Wed. 15th December – The Christmas Social - members only.
