A continuous programme of evening meetings are held monthly during the winter, addressed by experts in local history, archaeology, etc. In addition, there are outings in the summer, arranged to historic places or buildings, of interest both locally and further afield.
Forthcoming Events all at Ripley Village Hall. All evening meetings at 8pm on Tuesdays.
Tues. 21st January – A medley of Circle Eight films by Terence Patrick. Ice creams on sale in the interval.
Tues. 18th February – AGM. Cheese and Wine. Members' talks.
Tues. 18th March – Illustrated talk by Carol Brown of Guildford Museum on "The Guildford Suffragettes". NB. This meeting will take place in the Talbot Hotel, Ripley.
Fri. 11th April– Launch of new book, "Newark Priory - Ripley's Romantic Ruin."
Fri. 9th May - An outing to Dunsfold and Hascombe Churches with Alan Bott, followed by a visit to Shere Museum..
June - Outing to Parham House. Lunch at the White Hart Inn, Stopham Bridge, near Pulborough. Further details later.
July - River trip. Details to be announced later
Tues. 16th Sept - An illustrated talk by Judie English on “Iron Age Hill Forts in Surrey"
Tues. 21st Oct. - Illustrated talk by Rebecca Lambert on "Roman Guildford"
Tues. 18th Nov. - “The Gaiety Girl”. The story of Marjorie Goddard of Ripley told by her daughter, Gaye Burt.
Tues 16th Dec. - The annual Christmas Social.
All the indoor meetings will be in the Ripley Village Hall starting at 8:00pm unless otherwise stated. It would be nice to see a few more members on these social occasions.
