A continuous programme of evening meetings are held monthly during the winter, addressed by experts in local history, archaeology, etc. In addition, there are outings in the summer, arranged to historic places or buildings, of interest both locally and further afield.

Fri. 27th January –
The Mayor of Guildford, Terence Patrick, assisted by Matthew
Alexander, will be giving a historical presentation on ‘The Mayors of Guildford’.
Wed. 15th February – AGM, followed by Cheese and Wine and talks by members.
Wed. 28th March – A presentation on the “Lovelace Bridges Project” by Andrew Norris & Peter Hattersley..
Wed. 18th April – A talk by Dr. Gilbert Shama on ‘The History of Penicillin’. This will touch on the work of Kenneth White the Ripley pharmacist who was the first to produce penicillin for non-Services treatment.
Tues. 8th May - A walk to St. Catherine’s, Guildford, with David Rose. Pub lunch.
Mon. 18th June - A guided visit to Lord’s Cricket Ground, Museum and lunch.
Wed. 4th July - An evening walk in Old Woking with Iain Wakeford.
Wed. 19th Sept - “A Night of Terror!” A special event with David Rose.
Wed. 17th Oct. - “Ripley and Woking Postal History”, a talk by Michael Lockton.
Fri 23rd Nov. - Talk on “The History of Gardens” by Margaret Willes.
Wed 19th Dec. - The Christmas Social.
All the indoor meetings will be in the Ripley Village Hall Annexe starting at 8:00pm unless otherwise stated. It would be nice to see a few more members on these social occasions.
